The Electric Cars to Look Out For in 2022

The Electric Cars to Look Out For in 2022

There will be more electric cars than ever before arriving over the next few years, especially with battery technology improving all the time. Here is a small selection of the best electric cars to look out for in 2022.

Cupra Born

The Born went into production in September 2021 so it won’t be long until it is on the road. The funky design gives it a different edge compared to its VW sibling, offering up to 231hp from the electric motor and on a full charge it can run for up to 355 miles. Other models with different battery options will also be available, although they won’t have as much power or range.

Cupra Tavascan

Two years on from its standout appearance at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Cupra Tavasan has finally been given the go-ahead for production. However, you won’t be able to get your hands on it until 2024 or so. Manufacturer SEAT have said the final design will look very close to the design study shown off a couple of years ago, and it should have a drive range of around 300 miles.

Dacia Spring Electric

With the Dacia arriving in Europe in the last part of 2021, it could arrive in the UK in the first few months of next year, although that is yet to be confirmed. Costs could be around the £10,000 mark with a 140-mile drive range – although this is based on it being right-hand drive only – but this is still to be confirmed.

Genesis GV60

Genesis’ first all-electric car will be a coupe-SUV, with the entry level model having 228hp and around 280 miles of range. The only news available at the moment says it will be going on sale in North America in 2022, with no updates on when drivers in Europe or the UK can place their orders.

BMW iX1

The electric version of the X1 is likely to look quite similar in style to the non-electric versions. Tech from the iX3 could be included, offering a range of over 200 miles and up to 282bhp. Details are still to be confirmed, but it will be on sale in 2022.

Mercedes EQB

The EQB will arrive as the all-electric version of the Mercedes GLB. They have already confirmed that it will have close to 300 miles of range and offers a 7-seater configuration due to the position of the batteries under the flooring. Some reviews have been very good so far, but the roll out date is yet to be confirmed.
